There are many tasks I would delegate without thinking twice.
But there are five things I would not delegate without remaining involved:
Context, because a correct decision about a misunderstood problem is still a bad decision.
Accountability, because someone must put their name on the result when it matters.
Architecture, because the boundaries defined today shape many decisions tomorrow.
People, because a metric never tells the complete story of what is happening in a team.
And negotiation, because accepting a condition also means deciding which risk we are willing to carry.
This does not mean the leader must do everything.
It means recognizing the points where absence stops being delegation and becomes negligence.
Delegating execution creates capacity.
Delegating judgment without sharing context merely moves risk to someone with less information.
