There is a significant difference between the tools a company buys and the ones its team actually uses.
The official list may say Microsoft, Google, Jira, Slack, or any other platform.
But the real work happens somewhere else.
In a personal spreadsheet.
In a chat no one else can search.
In an AI tool someone started using because it helped them complete the work faster.
Management sees the licenses.
The team lives the process.
So before defining an AI strategy, I would create a much simpler inventory:
Which tool each person uses.
For which task.
And what information they put into it.
Not to punish anyone.
To understand how the company actually works before trying to govern it.
